Alameda Planning Board Denies Re-zoning Application

The City of Alameda Planning Board suddenly “got religion” tonight and started talking about the need to draw businesses and jobs to Alameda, and that was part of the reason they denied Harbor Bay Isle Associates (HBIA) application to re-zone 12 acres of land on Bay Farm Island from commercial to residential.

Action Alameda and many other Alameda residents have been talking about the need to focus on bringing jobs and business - and business sales tax revenue - for some time. Suddenly, surprisingly, the Planning Board agrees.

We can expect HBIA to appeal the planning board’s decision to Alameda City Council, and likely filing a lawsuit to get what they want.
