Alameda Firefighters Announce Thanksgiving Turkey Giveway

Yesterday, Alameda firefighters announced that starting Monday, the union local would give away free Thanksgiving turkeys to Alameda families, while supplies last. The full text of the press release is below.

First Annual Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway

On Monday, November 23, 2009, the Alameda Firefighters Association IAFF Local 689 will be giving away free Thanksgiving Turkeys to Alameda families. The firefighters know that many more families are struggling this year to make ends meet and are hoping to help restore joy in the Thanksgiving day of those families who are in need.

The event will take place in the West Marine parking lot along Concordia St. between Buena Vista Ave. and Pacific Ave. from 3pm until supplies run out.

This event is open to all residents of Alameda, 1 turkey per household, and offer is while supplies last. Please be prepared to show proof of residency.
